All Smoked Up Fine Catering

  • While planning my wedding last year my Dad and I discussed the menu. Prior to this event, we had two other family weddings and the caterer specialized in clambakes.  Thinking it was time for a change, my fiancé and I set out and found Chef Rob VanVoorhis and his company All Smoked Up BBQ & Catering on-line.  My dad was a little hesitant about changing caterers due to the fact the other two events were very successful & the guests were quite satisfied with the food. I convinced my Dad to hire Chef Rob to do the cooking and needless to say, we were all pleasantly pleased!!

    Rob rolls in with his 27’ trailer with all the grills and fixins.  He and his staff prepare all the food on site, it was amazing to watch them in action! Both the appetizers and main course were exceptional. I am still hearing from people how amazing the food was and I know I will be hearing that for a long time. Thanks to Rob and his crew we had a very successful wedding.

    Just wanted to say thanks for Saturday. I didn't get a chance to catch you before you left.  Great job as always.  It was unfortunate we didn't have the same great weather we usually enjoy, but you guys still helped us put on a very worthwhile event.  The food was great and everyone enjoyed it.  Good to see you and we'll see you again next April!

All Smoked Up had everything ready exactly when you said it would be, the food and the service was the key to my successful event. I really enjoyed the food and so did everyone else, you obviously know what you’re doing there was plenty of different food to eat and I thought that the menu was pleasing to everyone; I was thrilled with everything you did. Your girls did a great job, even in the rain! I hope you got some great pictures and if my photographer got any pictures of the food I'll send them along to you.   • I wasn't sure what to expect when I contacted All Smoked Up BBQ about a large-scale event my company was hosting for its employees, however, after speaking with Rob from ASU, I was convinced they were the caterer I wanted to hire.  Rob was relaxed but very thorough, taking care of all the details, including permits and rentals.  The ASU staff was efficient and super friendly, making sure that everything was set up the way we wanted.

    Regarding the food, the marinated steak skewers were tender and delicious. Several of my colleagues mentioned specifically how the hamburgers were “cooked to perfection."  The Mac 'n cheese was simply out of this world.

    I would certainly hire ASU again for our next company barbecue.

    We would like to thank you and your staff for such a great job with our son's first birthday party! Our guests have not stopped talking about it. Our neighbors couldn't believe how delicious the food smelled throughout the day- they couldn't wait to finally taste it. The spread of food was so impressive and piping hot even without sternos. We were floored with how delicious everything was- I think I might have dreamed of those apple pie baked beans that night! The whole hog was out of this world! So juicy and flavorful!     You have the best pulled pork ever! Now I've had pork from North Carolina to Chicago and yours is top. The ribs were mighty delicious too! The brisket was so flavorful I started picking right away and just couldn't stop. I didn't realize how much food I had, we ate it all week long and I made some freezer servings. But shared a little with my mother (she agrees, quite delicious!) Who knew? I'm in love... Thanks again, Sloan.

    The food was outrageous, and everyone was really impressed. Of special note were the cornbread, the potato salad and, of course, the meats! Really, everything was just spectacular, including yourself, sous chef and wait staff - couldn't have done it without! People are still raving about the quality of the food in terms of taste and presentation. The roast pig, gorgonzola Mac & cheese and skewered veggies were out of this world.   • Wow!!! What else can I say! Rob’s food is out of this world. Just this weekend, I stopped by his roadside spot and had a fantastic meal. I picked up two carved sirloin sandwiches, a side of macaroni and cheese, a side of pork hash and a dozen wings, brought it all home for my wife and two kids and we ate like kings, and had enough to reheat at dinner time! The food was delicious and was so much better than what we had at a restaurant a week prior. And, the price was far superior as well! If you haven’t tried All Smoked Up, you are missing so much! You have to try it!

  • When our son, Ben, and his bride, Hope, said they had contacted Rob VanVoorhis at All Smoked Up to cater their wedding we didn't know what to expect. The wedding was to be in a tent in our backyard, and the guest list had grown to 230 (!), even though the couple wanted to keep the relaxed mood of a Barbeque. This seemed a monumental task to us, until we met Rob. He came over with his wife and a huge tasting dinner for us all. The smoked ribs, chicken and brisket were heaven, but the gorgonzola macaroni and cheese was completely irresistible and a must in the menu plans. From the start we could see that Rob was the perfect combination of excellent Chef, experienced organizer, and just a lovely person.

    The wedding was a huge success. The menu was perfect, the servers and bartenders Rob brought were perfect, and all that Rob, and his brother, and assistant chef, did was perfect. This involved a lot of hard work outside just the cooking and serving. Because of the way we positioned the huge tent, it was necessary to drive the meat smoker directly through it to the preparation area, which meant early the next day all the chairs and tables had to be folded to make a path out, and Rob and his brother cheerfully did that too. Every aspect of the planning and execution was handled smoothly and professionally by Rob.

    Everyone raved about the quality and taste of the dinner buffet, and there were many serious foodies in the crowd. Good friends with very refined palettes, who had just celebrated their anniversary at Per Se restaurant in New York, said it was the best BBQ they ever had. And we thought so too. And we are very happy that our beautiful and special day was wrapped around a marvelous feast from All Smoked Up. Bruce Degen Newtown, CT

His customers benefit from his in-depth knowledge of the catering business, his great food preparation skills, and his wonderful creativity and imagination in the kitchen--even when the kitchen may happen to be in your back yard, or along the roadside! As a regular customer and consumer, I appreciate his wholesome, fresh and delicious offerings, which are always cooked up just right. He serves up large portions of great meats and sides, presents a good variety of foods, and he's always willing to give you a taste if you're wondering about something new. I especially enjoy being able to check his roadside menus on the web as I plan meals for my family. On top of all this, Rob is a really nice guy with a sunny disposition and a positive attitude.   • In early August, I had my first contact with Rob (aka) All Smoked Up BBQ Catering). I knew instantly he was going to be a joy to work with. In our Town, you must have a Peddler's Permit to sell and it is issued through the Office of the Town Clerk. Rob was very meticulous about getting me all of the proper paperwork and until all was filed we were in touch usually on a daily basis. Then the day came when he arrived at my office and I knew I was right about him from the beginning.......a gentleman and every aspect. Now the great part. Rob offered to put on a "sample" luncheon for the Town of Beekman employees. He showed up on the day of the luncheon at 8AM and began his preparations. Lunch was served promptly at 12:30 as he had promised. It was a delicious meal and all of our employees enjoyed Rob's offerings as well as his friendliness and professionalism. Since our luncheon, Rob has offered his fine cuisine to travelers, residents and businesses along Route 55. We have received nothing but POSITIVE comments about Rob and his delicious food. He also catered a local party recently and again wonderful feedback was heard in this office. It is without a doubt that Rob VanVoorhis is one of the finest caterers in this area.   • At our on-site picnic catered by All Smoked Up, everyone raved that the food was fabulous. The chicken was so tender and moist. The pulled pork was a big hit. The salads were great. Just about everyone went back for seconds. The menu was different than the traditional picnic foods and much more exciting then burgers and dogs. Although the weather didn't cooperate, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the outing. As an organizer, I was extremely pleased with the service and the fact that we only needed to show up and eat.   • My experience with All Smoked Up was amazing from the food to the service. Rob made everything simple including some modifications to their standard menu. All I had to do was point where to set up shop and the rest of the afternoon was taken care of--The food was out of this world. I still get compliments 2 months later from friends that attended the party. The pulled pork was the best and I have never had beans or corn on the cob that tasted that good.   • Our Memorial Day was made extra special this year when we contracted with the VanVoorhis's to cater an "all smoked up pig roast". In addition to the hog and all the" fixings" Rob cooked up several racks of spare ribs for us. I pride myself on my ability to cook delicious ribs, but I was humbled by his product. Our approximately 60 or so family and friends are still ravings about the party.We are already thinking about next year and whether we want to branch out to try one of his other specialties. - John and Norma R.   • When All Smoked Up catered the final end of the year picnic hosted by a retiring teacher, he and his wife were able to relax and enjoy the end of the year festivities for the first time in years! All the cooking and set up were done. Our BBQ menu included many of Rob's specialties. The ribs and pulled pork were fabulous, and the side dishes were just right. Portions were generous for the number we planned for. Our group ate to their heart's content; there was even enough to feed a few extras who showed up later. Rob gave us instructions on what we should have ready and was well prepared with everything to make set up and clean up easy. As a native of the South, it was a pleasure to find someone who understood our BBQ traditions and could execute the menu so splendidly.
